ATHENS, Ga. — Lauren Lewis Garrard and David William Moore were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m., on July 10, 2010, at First United Methodist Church in Athens, Ga., with the Rev. Charles Hodges officiating the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gilbert Garrard III of Athens, Ga., and the groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Stephen William Moore of Moultrie.
A large central arrangement of white garden flowers, Sahara roses, wood-fern, galax leaves, leucothoe, variegated hosta and trailing yew was placed on the altar in a stoneware urn, and was flanked by Kimberly Queen ferns on white pedastals. The church doors were decorated with grapevine baskets filled with white hydrangeas, lilies and garden greenery. The pews were marked by grapevine baskets of white dahlias, stock, anemones, scabiosa, Star of Bethlehem and garden greenery.
Music was rendered by organist and pianist Janis Maxwell and trumpeter Chris Trobst.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a strapless, ivory silk shantung dress with a ruched bodice and a fitted A-line skirt with a long champagne sash. She wore a chapel-length veil which was bordered with French lace. She wore pearls borrowed from her sister-in-law, who also designed her pearl and champagne crystal earrings. She carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, stock, scabiosa, dahlias, lisianthus, “The Bride” anemones and Sahara roses hand-tied with French ribbon.
Her maids of honor were Corbin Sims Miller of Charleston, S.C., and Elizabeth Bary Zechella of New York, N.Y., and her matron of honor was Liles Hill Thompson of Atlanta, Ga. Her bridesmaids were Mary Moore DeLoach, Lucy Allen Gillis, Julie Celeste Inman, and Ann Katherine Smith, all of Athens, Ga., and Lucy Bowles Chastain and Molly Hill West of Atlanta, Ga. They wore strapless, lime green silk chiffon dresses, gold sandals, gold earrings and necklaces designed by the bride’s sister-in-law, Cameron Garrard. They carried bouquets of orange dahlias, yellow freesia, orange ranunculus, green hydrangeas, green hypericom berries, coral, orange and yellow roses, and variegated hosta leaves hand-tied with French ribbon.
The flower girl was Kathryn MacGregor DeLoach of Athens, Ga.
The best man was the groom’s father, Dr. Stephen William Moore of Moultrie. The groomsmen were Edward Odom Acuff of Macon, Ga., Scott Andrew Bowman of Boca Raton, Fla., William Edward Gilbert Cagle IV of Augusta, Ga., Glenn Stewart Davis of Nashville, Tenn., Charles Andrew Garrard of Atlanta, Ga., Henry Gilbert Garrard IV of Athens, Ga., Patrick Hammond Garrard of Athens, Ga., Christopher Howard Henderson of Jacksonville, Fla., and John Thomas Moore of Sebastopol, Calif.
The ringbearer was William Isaac DeLoach of Athens, Ga.
The bell-ringers were Henry Thomas Garrard, William Joseph Garrard, Ciella Eloquin Garrard, and Daniel Auden Wills Garrard, all of Athens, Ga.
The reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held at The Conservatory of the State Botanical Garden of Georgia.
Round tables, covered with lime green moiré on white pin-tuck toppers, were placed inside the conservatory and outside under a large tent with matching wrought-iron chandeliers. Arrangements of orange, coral and yellow roses, green hydrangeas, hosta leaves, curly willow and kiwi vine on tall, iron candlesticks were alternated with bronze twig containers topped with lemons, green hydrangeas, variegated hosta leaves and green hypericom berries. These were all surrounded with glass votives.
The bride’s cake was four tiers of lemon and raspberry rounds with white cream cheese icing. Each layer featured swags and tiny flowers. The base was encircled by fresh multi-colored flowers, galax leaves and kiwi fruit. A bouquet of fresh flowers topped the cake.
A tableau of round wooden slabs, decorated branches and a moss-covered duck topiary created the backdrop for the groom’s cake, which consisted of cupcakes iced with chocolate or lemon curd topped with a variety of fruits.
The couple took their honeymoon at The Royal Plantation in Jamaica and will reside in Athens, Ga.
