James Wendell Spearman and Pansy Kay Coppage Spearman of Hahira will be honored on their 50th anniversary at a family dinner Saturday, Aug. 7, at Hilton Garden Inn.

A reception for friends and family will be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at Forest Park Church of Christ fellowship room. The couple requests no gifts.

The Spearmans were married on Sunday, Aug. 7, 1960, after the morning worship at Hahira Church of Christ by Prewitte Copeland of Dasher, minister.

Their children and spouses are Lindi and David McGaughy of Newark, Ohio; Julie and David Hamilton of Gambier, Ohio; and James and Marlene Tromp Spearman of Granville, Ohio.

Grandchildren include: Amy McGaughy (and Ben) Lewis of Fort Knox, Ky.; Alex (and Jessica) McGaughy and Amanda McGaughy of Newark; Jared (and Leah) Hamilton of Salem, Mass.; Jason Hamilton and Ahlea Hamilton (and Chris) Parrish of Gambier; and Jacob Tromp-Chacko of Granville.

Great-grandchildren are Ainsley Lewis, Noah Lewis, Balin Lewis of Fort Knox, Ken.; Camille Hamilton of Salem, Mass.; Sierra Parrish and Lucas Parrish of Gambier.

Mr. Spearman is retired from his work as a superintendent of big construction work. One of his last jobs was the Forest Park Church of Christ building on Perimeter Road.

The Spearmans are “Papa” Wendell and “Memom” to numerous little ones in their home child care. Many of her former students stay in close contact with them, continually checking on their welfare.
