Rick and Faye Setser were honored at a 50th wedding anniversary celebration Friday, June 29, 2012, at the Valdosta Country Club.

Hosts were their children, Richie (and Kelle) Setser of Valdosta and Faeda Setser of Nashville, Tenn. The couple also has four grandchildren, Jared (and Brittany) Setser, Adam Setser, Dillon Whigham and Daria Whigham of Valdosta.

The honorees were married June 3, 1962, at East Park Baptist Church (now Bemiss Road Baptist Church) with the reception at the home of Robert and Anne Cork.

Rick owned Setser Service Company for 25 plus years before selling it and also worked for the Valdosta-Lowndes County Inspections Department before he retired.

Faye taught kindergarten for nine years in Valdosta and Stone Mountain and later worked with her husband at his business before she retired. She played the piano/organ in churches her father, the late Rev. Dr. H.C. Godfrey, “planted” in South Carolina, beginning when she was 13, before coming to Georgia, where she played at East Park/Bemiss Road and Morningside Baptist churches.

The couple enjoys traveling and went on a Reformation Tour with Chuck Swindoll to Germany, Switzerland and the Czech Republic in 2010. Last summer, they took a trip to Los Angeles to visit grandson Adam Setser where he is in school at The Master’s College.
