VALDOSTA — Rozanne Leigh Pounds became the bride of Randy Wes Simpson on January 3, 2009, at Francis Lake Baptist Church in Lake Park with Pastor Sammy Reaves of Clyattville First Baptist Church officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Parker of Valdosta and Mr. and Mrs. Ricky L. Pounds, Sr. of Lakeland. Her grandparents are Mrs. Evelyn Hiers and the late Mr. Farris Hiers of Lake Park and the late Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Pounds of Griffin, Ga.

The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Biernacki of Valdosta and Mr. and Mrs. Randy A. Simpson of Hahira. His grandparents are Mrs. Dorothy Harnage and the late Mr. Jack Harnage, Sr. of Lake Park and Mr. and Mrs. James Simpson of Hahira.

The bride wore an ivory, strapless gown slightly dipped in the front. The back of the gown was scalloped and dipped in the back. The beautiful fitted dress was accented with beadwork of crystals and sequins. The floral embroidery had a soft swirl design. The A-line skirt extended into a semi-cathedral train.  The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of cream roses and Queen Anne’s lace. The bride wore a pearl necklace which was a wedding gift from the groom.

Maid of honor was Miss Rita Nicole Hughes of Valdosta. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Amanda Wallace Brantley, Miss Kerilyn Elizabeth Ethridge, Mrs. Emily Redish Tillman of Valdosta; Mrs. Crystal Culpepper Darling and Miss Jennifer Leigh Futch of Lake Park; Mrs. Lacey Davis Stephens of Hahira; and Mrs. Candace Keel Tanner of Alachua, FL. The bridesmaids wore cocoa satin, floor-length dresses. The upper bodice of the dress was strapless and had a pleated cream sash extending to the floor.

Flower girl was Miss Bristol Parker of Reynolds, GA. The flower girl carried a cream rose kissing ball and wore an ivory satin dress. It had a bough neckline, was sleeveless and had a banded, natural waist. The floor-length skirt was French tulle and lace. The hem of the skirt was accented with scalloped lace.

The best man was Mr. Benjamin Owen Prince of Valdosta. Groomsmen were Ernest Vickers Parker of Brunswick; Derrik Brandon Butler, Jordan Louie Culpepper, James Caldwell Darling, and Randy Herbert Hiers, Jr. of Lake Park; Zackery Cameron Kendrick and Matthew Fudge Wilkin of Valdosta. Ring bearer was Mr. Aubrey James Simpson of Hahira. Bell ringers were Mr. Nealy Herbert Hiers of Lake Park and Mr. Payton James Parker of Brunswick.

Following the ceremony, guests were invited to a reception given by the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. James E. Parker. The reception was held at the Valdosta Elks Lodge where heavy hors d’ oeuvres were served in the dining room. The dining tables and chairs were covered in cocoa cloths with cream sashes on the chairs. Each table held a hurricane with cream pillar candle surrounded by greenery. Guests also enjoyed dancing to “oldies” music, performed by The Bushmen, of Tallahassee, FL.

After a honeymoon to Costa Rica, the newlyweds are residing in Valdosta.

The bride is employed by H&H Insurance Solutions, Inc. as a benefits specialist and the groom by Drawdy Roofing, Inc. as an outside sales representative.
