NASHVILLE, Ga. — Julie Amanda Griner and Casey Carter Mattox were united in marriage on May 2, 2009, at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville with the Reverend Dr. Bill Young of First Baptist Church, Blackshear, and the Reverend Jimmy Futch of Riverside Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James T. Griner of Nashville and the late Mrs. Gayle M. Griner of Nashville. Her grandparents are Mrs. Mamie Lee Moore and the late Mr. Charles Moore and Mrs. Mary H. Griner and the late Mr. Olin T. Griner, all of Nashville.
The groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. G. Troy Mattox of Blackshear. His grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Owen Carter of Alma and the late Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Mattox of Blackshear.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Starla White of Valdosta, and maid of honor was Miss Jennifer Albritton of Charleston, South Carolina. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Amber Suppa of Pikeville, North Carolina; Miss Lauren Tennyson of Atlanta; Mrs. Tiffany Brown of Jacksonville, Florida; Miss Amy Albritton of Atlantic Beach, Florida; and Mrs. Jessica Holbrook of Lakeland, Georgia. The bridesmaids wore navy charmeuse tea-length dresses with empire waists and carried bouquets of blue and white hydrangeas with peacock feathers.
The flower girls were Miss Gaylen Griner of Nashville, niece of the bride, and Miss Madison Mattox of Blackshear, niece of the groom. They wore ivory satin floor-length dresses with navy sashes and carried white satin baskets filled with rose petals from the home of the bride’s parents.
Best man was Mr. G. Troy Mattox, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Mr. Gentry Mattox, brother of the groom, Mr. Caleb Hiers, nephew of the groom, Mr. Timothy Griffis and Mr. Scott Strickland, all of Blackshear; Mr. Josh Mattox of Jacksonville, Florida, cousin of the groom; and Mr. Jarrod Griner of Nashville, brother of the bride. The ring bearer was Greston Griner of Nashville, nephew of the bride.
Ushers were Mr. Paul Austin, Mr. Brantley Bowen and Mr. Trey Walker of Blackshear; Mr. Jed Brogdon of Valdosta; and Mr. Ty Wright of Waresboro.
The wedding programs were distributed by Hillary Hendley, cousin of the bride, and Elizabeth White, both of Nashville.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. The bride wore an ivory semi-cathedral length satin gown with a strapless sweetheart neckline, bodice rouching, and shirt pickups. She also wore an ivory cathedral-length, satin-trimmed veil. She borrowed a pearl and diamond bracelet from a close friend and carried a family heirloom handkerchief belonging to her maternal grandmother. She also wore diamond and pearl teardrop earrings, a gift from the groom. She carried a bouquet of white tulips, stephanotis, blue and white hydrangeas with a locket containing a picture of her late mother on her wedding day.
The ceremony was directed by Ms. Kathy Perry. The ceremony music was provided by Ms. Renee Gaskins and Mrs. Sarah Surratt. Soloist Debra Boyd sang “How Beautiful” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Following the wedding, guests were invited to a reception given by the bride’s parents at Shadow Oak Plantation. Guests enjoyed traditional Southern dining prepared by 3D Catering of Nashville. Dinner and dancing was enjoyed under a candlelit wedding tent. Tables were covered with white and navy cloths with alternating arrangements of white tulips and curly willow or tall cylinders filled with white hydrangeas. The ceremony and reception floral arrangements were prepared by Blue Tassel of Adel. Little Brown Peach of Valdosta provided the reception music.
After a honeymoon to Costa Rica, the newlyweds are residing in Jacksonville. The bride is employed by Mayo Clinic and the groom by UPS and Mattox Broadcasting.
